For the 2017 tax year, you would need to use a TurboTax past years' product, which must be installed on a computer (i.e., there is no online version available to prepare a 2017 income tax return with TurboTax).

 You can only do the current year (2020) with TurboTax (TT) online software.

You can still prepare 2017-2019 returns with TT download software.  You cannot e-file, but must print and mail. https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

You can get forms (for mailing) from the IRS, going back even farther.  https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/prior-year

Don’t forget your state.  And you will have to print and mail your returns.  So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

if the 2017 returns show a refund, then unless you timely filed extensions the refunds are forfeit. with timely extensions you have until 10/15/2021 to claim them. however, if you owe the tax authorities can come after you forever
