Finished my 2024 return and was preparing to e-file. e-file failed saying Turbo Tax needed to be updated first. Completed update and now my 2024 return data file is completely blank as if I had never started it. Beyond frustrated and I see I am not the first. Is there anything to be done other than start all over again? (System used is iOS on Macbook)

Thank you for responding. However, this is not the issue. I have my data file, but after the recent update my data file was written over and is now blank. My return was finished and was being submitted but I received an error message that TT needed to be updated before e-filing could be completed. All data entries in my return data file are now blank.
The exact same thing just happened to me now!! After hours of work, I was ready to do a final review. Turbo tax requested an update, which I did, and now now of my returns are there *argh* I'll have to search for how some people got them back or start from scratch. This is VERY frustrating!
Yes...extremely frustrating. I couldn't find a solution nor any help from Intuit. I ended up starting from scratch from the very beginning.
My tax file disappeared today after a TurboTax software update. I called support and while the agent was pleasant, there is no fix. I filed and need to amend. I see this has been happening for a few years looking at posts. I use the PC version. My file is gone from all including One Drive.
Here are a couple community fixes:
I finally discovered what was going on with mine. When I originally installed Turbotax, it picked up my previous file from my Windows File backup location, so it continued to save everything in that location, not the actual active file location. I just have to remember to check that next year.
