I used the desk top version for 2022 and am now trying to use the desk top version for 2023.  TutboTax is not able to bring over 2022 to 2023.  I saw a post that it can't bring a 1040-SR version.  Is this correct?

Only from a 1040SR pdf file.  You should be transferring from the actual .tax2022 data file.

No, that is not correct.   You can transfer a 2022 tax file to a new 2023 return if you do that transfer at the very beginning before you enter any 2023 data.

The PDF of a Form 1040-SR cannot be transferred.  But if you are using the same computer for the 2023 tax return as was used for the 2022 tax return, and you saved the 2022 tax data file, it will be available to transfer.

When you start a New 2023 tax return the program will present you a list of 2022 tax files for you to transfer.

TurboTax saves all tax data files and saved PDF's, by default, in the TurboTax folder within the Documents directory.  The 2022 tax data file will have a file extension of .tax2022
