I don't think my taxes were actually filed last year. It says "printed" on the status. Did I need to mail them in also?

Sorry but Printed or Ready to Mail means you have to actually print out your tax return and mail it to the IRS or state yourself.  So if you didn't mail it then it has not been filed yet.  And it will always say Ready to Mail.  Turbo Tax doesn’t know if or when you mailed it and the IRS doesn’t update Turbo Tax when they get your mailed return.   

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.

Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.

@Melissabradly and note that the IRS is woefully backlogged, so if you mail the federal return, anticipate a wait of 6-9 months until the return is processed....

If you are filing for a refund, there is no penalty for filing late.
