What file did you download?  Was it a .tax or .pdf or .txt file?  If it downloads as a .txt file, try changing the .txt to .pdf or use a different browser to download it.

If you are using Microsoft Edge see

  1. It says PDF I have tried to change it and it wont work. It keeps telling me I have to download and buy their software. I believe I was tricked into hitting that button where it said try these for free. It wants me to look at my credit score. HOW DO I GET OUT OF THAT MESS! Turbotax has a bunch of pop ups trying to get you to pay! This was the worst year because It wouldn't let me get rid of a section C Business paper that I did't need this year it kept trying to keep it so i would pay the fee. I am very upset with this service. I better get my email from IRS telling they got it by tomorrow or something is wrong!

@lindajean1988 To clarify, you have already filed? You can ensure your taxes were filed by checking your e-file status. If no status is showing then the return was not completed and submitted.

After one has e-filed and been accepted, it can sometimes take a return PDF a while to update and become available at the Tax Home.

If you can't use the Download/print button at the Tax Home or the "Download/print the PDF" link in the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents", here's an alternate way to print by opening the filed return back up to print at the Print Center.

Note:  When you open your return back up, do not make any changes in it since it's already been filed.  If you later have to amend the return, it has to start off exactly as it was when it was originally filed.

  • Log in and at the Tax Home or in the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents" for 2019, look for a link "Add a State."
  • Click on "Add a State."  (you don't really add one.  That's just to open your return back up.)
  • After the return is open, click in the left menu column on TAX TOOLS, then PRINT CENTER.
  • Then choose "Print, save, view this year's return."
  • The next screen should offer 3 options:  "Just my tax returns", or "include government worksheets (optional)", or "include government and TurboTax worksheets (optional.)"
