If your spouse passed away in 2019, and you did not remarry before the end of the year, you can file a joint tax return for the year.

If you have children at home you will probably be able to file as qualifying widow(er) for the two years following the year that your spouse passed away.

Did your spouse die in 2019?  There is a problem with Efiling when one spouse died during the year.  You have print and mail your return this year.
