I submitted my 1099NEC through Turbo Tax (Home & Business) Quick Employer Forms. I have used this a couple years and never had an issue for the one person we complete this for. This year, after I e-filed, we received and email saying the form was rejected. It says the most common reason is the Business Name and Tax ID Number do not match IRS records. I pulled the 1099 NEC we did for same individual in 2023 and the Business Name, Address, and Tax ID Number are identical to what is on the 2024 form.
When I tried to "Edit" the for in the Quick Employer Forms portal, the system says I cannot edit a form that has been accepted by the IRS. However, the status still says "E-File Rejected". It told me I should call customer support, which I did, but couldn't get to anyone with Quick Employer Forms help. I spoke for about 20 minutes with a "TurboTax" support agent, and they tried to share my screen so they could see what I was seeing, but since the Quick Employer Forms portal is through the internet browser and not the Turbo Tax App, they are not able to see the screens.
Any suggestion on what I can do?

You can wait a couple of days and try to edit the form again as the reject notice may take a day or two to register properly. Also, you could try entering a new Form 1099 for that individual. If all of the information on the form is correct though, it may get rejected again if you manage to re-file it. You can check with the individual to insure the tax ID number is correct, it is possible it changed if it was a federal ID number. You could also purchase a Form 1099-NEC kit online and file the forms manually.
Thank you. I e-filed it four days ago and today it still won't let me edit. Will try again tomorrow.
I had exactly the same issue a couple of weeks ago. Last year it was the same issue so I had to go to an accountant and pay to have them file for me. ($25) The batch was accepted, no problem. This year I tried Turbo Tax again on to fail once again. Back to the accountant for filing, same price. I've been promised a credit for my out of pocket from Turbo Tax supervisor. It is obvious that Turbo Tax has a serious problem, and after a year one would think they should have corrected the issue. Alas, they have not...
