I have read all the articles but cannot for the life of me figure out where I actually enter my 1099-S!  I can't seem to find/access the screen it keeps referencing to actually enter the sale price of the home.  Please help!  I'm losing my mind over here!

A Form 1099-S is not entered anywhere on a tax return.  The Gross Proceeds shown on the form is entered in the section for reporting the sale of the property.  The Gross Proceeds should be the Sales Price for the home.

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Less Common Income
  • On Sale of Home (gain or loss), click the start or update button

Or enter sale of home in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to sale of home

Thank you so much!  This wasn't for my primary home though, I sold a rental property.  Where would I enter that?

See this TurboTax support FAQ for reporting the sale of a rental property - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/rental/help/i-sold-my-rental-property-how-do-i-report-that/01/26251

If you are using the TurboTax online web based editions then you have to use either the Premier or Self-Employed editions to report the rental sale.

If you are using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions installed on your personal computer, then any of the editions can be used to report the rental sale.
