My 1099-R says-If this form show federal income tax withheld in box 4, attach this copy to your return.

In my case it does show federal income tax withheld-so although I use turbotax and have always efiled-do I ahve to mail this 1099-R and my taxes in this year?

if you're e-filing submitting the actual 1099-R is not required nor possible. you're not required to file-by-mail because there was withholding

Sorry but the form clearly says to send it

so I thought I couldn’t efile

When there is tax withholding shown on a Form 1099-R that you have entered into TurboTax, TurboTax embeds in your e-filing the Form 1099-R details that you entered, effectively "attaching" the Form 1099-R to your filing.
