1099-OID

I have put in line 8 of the OID form and when done with taxes it is putting the amount on the 8995 form (which is Qualified Business Income Deduction) as a REIT dividend...  This OID form is for a treasury bond, why would it go to Qualified Business Income Deduciton?

1099-OID

Follow these steps since the OID should not be on form 8995.

  1. Open your return to the 1099-OID
  2. Verify box 8 has the value - not accidentally entered in a different box
  3. Look for uncommon situations or sec 199A question - a checkmark here will send it to the 8995- this should be blank

If all of that is correct and still showing on 8995, you may have a piece of data stuck in the wrong spot. Follow these steps:

Online version:

  1. Delete the form OID and  8995, if possible, see How to Delete
  2. Log out of your return and try one or more of the following:
    • Don't use Internet Explorer.
    • Clear cache and cookies,
    • Sign in using a different browser.
    • Sign in using a different device.
  3. Log back into your return.
    • Enter the information again.

Desktop version:

  1. Delete the forms OID and 8995
  2. Save your return while closing the program.
  3. Update the program
  4. Open
  5. Enter the information again.
