1099-NEC For Grant Written to fund a school event

I work for an independent School district and applied for and was awarded an $800 grant from the county to fund a school event. I received a 1099-NEC in my name for $800 dollars in Box1. All for the $800 grant was used for the school event.  How can this be reported that reflects this was not income?

1099-NEC For Grant Written to fund a school event

It sounds like you applied for the grant in your name even though it was for the school?

In this situation, you would are the nominee.  This means you must issue a 1099-NEC to the school for this income in order for you not to have to report the income.  You can do this using TurboTax Quick Employer Forms.  You can also do it on paper, but be sure you include the 1096 when you send in the 1099-NEC to the IRS.
