Received a 1099-C for canceled debt; however, it was sent to my deceased husband (passed away 6 Years ago). His purchase did not involve me (his spouse). I was not listed in the original contract. I tried paying off the debt years ago and was denied taking over his mortgage. Am I still responsible for his canceled debt?

No, if you were not responsible for the debt, you do not have to include the 1099-C on your income tax return.
Thank you!!
