that's seems to be a contradiction
interest income is reported on form 1099 not form 1098
mortgage interest paid is reported on form 1098 not form 1099.
please clarify your situation.
Issued 1098 mortgage interest statement to payer, file with form 1096 to IRS. 1098 mortgage interest is consider my income. Not sure where I should enter the same amount on Form 1040 .

Sometimes mortgage companies will issue a 1099-INT statement if they ended up paying you interest income.
