1040X

I submitted a 1040-SR using Turbotax E-File.  I owed approx $500, printed the form for payment and have not yet made payment.  A couple of weeks later, I noticed that I had put a number on the wrong line.  I completed a 1040X on Turbotax and E-Filed.  This resulted in approx a $1,600 refund (which is close to my normal refund for the past 25+ years.)  Question is:  Do I need to mail the $500 from the first submission, or do I hold off on that and wait for the refund.  Once I have the refund, do I still owe the $500?

No, do not mail the payment from the original return.  The IRS will make the adjustments to the expected refund amount.  You will receive a notice in a few weeks so just be patient.
