You can contribute $1,000 to your HSA. Your wife can contribute $1,000 to her HSA.

The annual HSA contribution limit for Family HDHP coverage is $7,200. You two can share this any way you like, anywhere from 7,200 to your HSA and none to hers, to none for your HSA and 7,200 to hers, or anywhere in between.

The important thing is that the $1,000 "bonus" for being 55+ must go to the HSA of the owner. This is why while you two can contribute up to $8,200 to one HSA, at a minimum, $1,000 must go to the other, for a "total" of $9,200.
