Why doesn't my child qualify for the Child Tax Credit if he was born on 12/22/16 and I am filing for 2016 taxes?

It asked if i had a kid and i thought if a child was born in that year whenever they acknowledge it. please help

You need to say your child lived with you the WHOLE YEAR. You are allowed to say that for a newborn so that you get the personal exemption and any child-related credits you qualify for.
