What do you enter for a new car purchase for vehicle license fees?

My new car purchase has a section labeled "amounts paid to public officials". Is this the amount I enter for license fees?

It doesn't sound like it, but with such a vague description, there's no way of knowing.  Contact your car dealership  or your state's motor vehicle department to see if you can find an explanation.
