It is paid sick leave. It should show as an informational item in box 14 of your W-2. After entering the item in box 14, and clicking continue, the next screen will ask for additional information. Since there is no specific drop-down for this, click on the down arrow and click on the last item for other (not classified).
Is TurboTax planning on fixing this? Why can't they accommodate this category properly so we aren't searching all over the place.
As you may have read elsewhere, there is no set standard list for entries in Box 14. It is the employers who make up these entries, because the Box 14 entry is a communication between the employer and the employee. Even the same item is not always listed by the same Box 14 abbreviation.
And it takes TurboTax some time after the appearance of a box 14 code to determine that it's a serious entry and that we should add it to the system.
turbo tax does not offer that option, paid sick leave. at least not on my 2024 version.
You can enter NYPSL-E under the category "Other deductible state or local tax" when entering your W-2 into the TurboTax program.
