Want to drop my dependent and filed head of house

You need to explain more of what you are trying to accomplish.

In general, you need to be claiming at least one dependent to be Head of Household (HoH).  The only exception is in the case of divorced or separated parents, in which case you must be the custodial parent.  The TurboTax software handles both situations.  To delete a dependent just click delete next to the person's name under personal info. In the custodial parent situation, leave the child entered and follow the interview; answering that you are allowing the other parent to claim the dependent.

If this is about trying to get your dependent  the stimulus payment, then you'll have to give up HoH and the dependent credit for him to do so; unless he waits til next year.

Under the CARES Act, if he is claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return he cannot receive a stimulus check, in 2020.   If he is claimed as a dependent for 2019, but will not be for 2020, he will most likely get it  in 2021.

"In essence, the stimulus check acts as an advance of your 2020 income tax refund. This means when you prepare your 2020 income tax return, there will be a line to include the section 6428 credit. The credit on your 2020 return is subtracted by any amount received as a stimulus check in 2020. If the amount you received as a stimulus check is less than the credit you are due, the difference will be included as part of your 2020 refund. If you have been overpaid by receiving the stimulus check, however, you will not be required to return any excess amount".

Did you already e-file?  Was the return accepted?  If the return has not been fully processed yet, wait until it has been processed before you amend.  if you remove a dependent, that may also change your filing status as Head of Household.  But you have not said who the dependent is.  if you are the custodial parent, you may still be able to file a HOH while allowing the other parent to claim the child tax credit.

How do I amend my 2019 TurboTax Online return?

A 1040X cannot be e-filed.  It must be printed and mailed.  It will take about 4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  It is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it, like UPS or certified mail, so you will know it was received.

Wait about 3 weeks from mailing and you can check the status of your amended return:

Be forewarned that amended returns are presently taking much longer than normal to process.  The IRS is not opening its mail right now.  So when you mail your Form 1040X, it will be in a mail trailer for awhile before they even open it.

Per the IRS website IRS Operations During COVID-19: Mission-critical functions continueThe IRS is not currently able to process individual paper tax returns. If you already have filed via paper but it has not yet been processed, do not file a second tax return or write to the IRS to inquire about the status of your return or your economic impact payment. Paper returns will be processed  once processing centers are able to reopen.
