Two Dependents
I filed two dependents for the year 2020 and only received Child Tax Credit for one. My first dependent turned 18 in May of this year and was 17 in 2020. Why didn’t I receive Child Tax Credit for two dependents?

Two Dependents
Because the child that turned 18 of this year was age 17 in 2020. A 17 year old in 2020 is not eligible for the Child Tax Credit on a 2020 tax return. A 18 year old in 2021 is not eligible for the Child Tax Credit on a 2021 tax return.

That makes sense but can the 18 year old be claimed as an Other Dependent?

Yes, they will be eligible for the Other Dependent tax credit of $500 which is reported on your federal tax return when claiming them as your dependent.
