When I reached the Charitable Cares Act screen during the final questions on my Federal return, the “money” box is shaded showing $1,750. This is the total amount of my cash contributions but it is more advantageous for me to take the two standard deductions which I am doing. Do I leave the “money” box alone and hit Continue OR do I override the $1,750 and type in $300? 🥴

You can hit Continue and move forward with your return.  The $1750 indicates that you gave that amount to charity, but TurboTax will automatically limit the amount to $300 for taxpayers using the standard deduction.

You can go to Forms Mode and verify this by checking Form 1040 line 10b.  It should show $300.
