Sales tax "carryover" from previous year

I paid 36,000 in sales tax in 2022.  The cap/limit is $10,000.   Can I apply the "overage" to my tax return in 2023? (up to the limit of $10,000).    I can't find a document that states that I can apply amount over the limit to subsequent years.   (like you can often do with energy tax credits that exceed the max)

There are no carryovers for sales taxes paid in a prior year that cannot be used in the year the sales taxes were paid.
