RV Purchased Specifically for Work

Earlier this year, my agency required me to begin traveling over 2 hours one-way to work in our state office for a minimum of 3 days per week.  Spending 4 hours in a car every day is HARD.  So, my husband and I purchased a RV and have it set up in a RV Park not 10 miles from my "new" work location.  I know people say that the IRS doesn't believe something like this is used 100% for work, but in all honesty this one is!  It was purchased specifically for me to stay in during the week.  We couldn't use it for personal reasons even if we wanted to because it's a Fifth Wheel and we do not own a vehicle that can pull it.  The day we purchased it; the dealer hauled it to the RV park and set it up for us--so now I'm paying for an RV and the lot in the Park. What (if any) tax breaks might we qualify for?  Since I am not a business, I don't know if section 179 applies in my case.  And, we haven't itemized deductions years, so I won't be able to deduct any interest paid on the loan.

Since you are an employee that receives a W-2, none of your employee business expenses are deductible on a federal tax return due to the changes in the tax code for tax years 2018 thru 2025.

Even if my employer doesn't reimburse me for any of the cost?  I still won't be able to get any kind of tax break???

@kacee13 Sorry, that is correct.  Your out of pocket for these expenses are not deductible on a federal return.
