Question

Refund through SBTPG is less

So it is now 2023. I got my refund yesterday and it's 33 dollars less than what TT said it would be. Came through SBTPG. Upon digging a little further, I've come across people from last year having this same issue. If there are going to be extra hidden third party fees, TT and SBTPG need to be more transparent about it. Since I was told I was getting 833 back, I want the whole thing. Someone owes me 33 dollars.  Not happy right now.

There are no extra fees hidden ... they were in the contract you signed  ... the TT fees + the bank processing fee + any required state sales taxes will be deducted.  Save a PDF of the return with the worksheets to see that information :

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.

This will take you back to the 2022 online tax return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.

Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

I've been doing my taxes through here for years and not once have I gotten less than what TT said I was getting back. Why are they sending my refund to SBTPG first? That's an unnecessary step that's costing me extra money. If I wasn't in such dire straights I wouldn't really give it a second thought, but this is really aggravating.

Here's the link to what I found:

@Stormechaser

YOU made the choice to route your refund thru the third party processing bank  when you either choose to have the TT fees paid  from your federal refund  and/or  got a refund advance loan.   No one forced you to choose that option and in fact the screen actually says it is not needed if you read the contract you signed.

If you pay the TT fees upfront with a Credit or Debit card the refund processing service will not be needed and the IRS would send the refund directly to you.
