Using the Miscellaneous Expense category is a good place to claim expenses for materials used for your jobs. This category will allow you to enter your own description and amount.
Or you can just enter materials under Supplies if you are not tracking them under Inventory and Cost of Goods Sold. So either under Supplies or as Other Misc Expenses.
Assuming this relates to a SCH C business that you own, in the business expenses section there is a specific spot for that called "supplies". What you enter there ends up on line 22 of the SCH C.
If you enter it as miscellaneous expenses, that total ends up on line 27a of the SCH C, with the details of that total shown in part V of the SCH C and totaled on line 48, which is the amount duplicated to line 27a.
