To XmasBaby0....
Thank you so much... I did follow your steps and form 8812 is finally disappeared.
Thanks again,
Jack
Same thing.
We coukdnt remember if we received the third stimulus check so we checked “yes”. That automatically filled in the blanks that we received child credit.
Then went back and unchecked that we received the third stimulus check. That corrected the problem. If we did indeed receive it the Government will find the error and ask us to return it. “Crazy Making”.
Visit the Child and Other Dependent Tax Credit section. After the visit the error goes away.
Correct. But the point people are making is that it should not be an error in review, the child tax question should be asked when entering all your information, thereby not generating an error at all.
I read you can delete the form in the Forms mode at the bottom so after reading your post on this bug - I deleted the form, but it still shows up in the review. Maybe enter 0 then delete the form? I can't electronically file anyway since there are exceptions to line 4 in form 8880 that TurboTax doesn't support so have to override.
You are able to remove the form but if the form re-generates, that means that there is an entry in the software that needs to be removed or changed.
IRS Form 8812 may be generated because the tax return reports
Everyone has to answer whether they received advance child tax credit payments but not everyone will report that they received the advance payments.

The issue is that TurboTax will not ALLOW me to enter zero. It is forcing the value to be $500.
No dependents, no tax credit, but can't file taxes!
I also cannot find a page called "Dependents and Credits" - what form or where in the step-by-step can this be zero'ed?
Everyone has to answer whether they received advance child tax credit payments. If you did not receive any of those payments between July and December you need to answer that you did not receive any payments.
There are so many scenarios with those payments---like divorced/never married parents who have issues over who received the payments, who claimed the children, etc. --- the software has no way of knowing if any of that involves you---so you have to answer the questions about it.
Please follow these steps to indicate you did not receive any advanced payments:
You're a dope
That worked
Thanks, Dude
I just got the same error. Doing brothers taxes. He's Single & no dependents. Reviewed everything dont see anything that would have triggered TT to give back this error.
Everyone has to answer the Advanced Child Tax Credit questions. All you have to do is enter a "0" in the box for Advanced Child Tax Credit.
Back at you - putz.

I'm single and I have no dependents. Why does turbotax generate a Scheule 8812 for me? Am I supposed to submit this schedule to the IRS even if I'm single and have no dependents? If not, how can I delete this schedule?
