"can't file just yet due to disaster tax relief laws passed by congress." Claimed full amount in 2020, did not do the over 3 years thing. UPDATED still not working. HOW?

Even though I updated TT, if still won't let me file. The deadline is approaching.  Should I just redo whole thing? We sold a house, moved to another state, very complicated year. Don't want to start over. We did get a covid distribution in 2020 but claimed FULL amount that year. Should I check NO to 'did you get'?

You did not spread the distribution over three years.  You should answer No to the question.

To return to this question in TurboTax Desktop, follow these steps.

  • Go to Federal Taxes / Wages & Income / I'll choose what I work on
  • Scroll down and click on Done with income.
  • Continue moving forward until you see a question about whether you took a disaster distribution in 2020 and answer No.
  • Run the Federal Review  again to see whether the error has cleared.
