About claiming a Home Office Deduction for mileage, despite not paying rent

Hello, I do bodywork - Craniosacral Therapy & Trauma Resolution (in-person) and I also have a number of online clients. Therefore, I have an office in town which is a 15 mile commute each way. However, I do all my book-keeping, emails, billing and online client work from my home "office" (where I have a separate desk for this work). I do not pay rent where I currently live.

Can I still claim the mileage for driving from my home "office" to my bodywork office?

Can I still claim the mileage for driving from my home "office" to my bodywork office?   No ... this is considered commuting just like any other job.  And since you have a permanent "place of business" outside of your home you do not have a home office to claim.  The fact you choose to work from home is for your convenience only.  Read the rules ... you do not pass the PRINCIPAL place of business.   https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-reminds-taxpayers-of-the-home-office-deduction-rules-during-small-b...
