Qualify as a teacher

I work a 501(c)(3) nonprofit as a chef instructor, where I teach at-risk students basic work skills that can be applied to the food service industry.  There are a lot of expenses that I paid for, in order to prepare teaching my lessons.  Are these expenses tax deductible?

To enter your educators expenses please follow these steps:

• Log into your TurboTax Account
• Go to Federal Taxes tab and click on it
• Next click the Deductions and Credits tab
• Scroll down and if the selections at the bottom are not all visible select I'll Choose What I Want to Work on
• In the Employment Expenses section, select visit/update/show more button on the far right then select start next to Teacher (Educator) Expenses
