On my 1098 for my mortgage interest statement in box 10 (real estate taxes paid) next to my amount it shows a small 2. What is this for?

Not sure what this is for could anyone help?

The small number sounds like a footnote reference.  Look further down on the form to see if there are any footnotes.

For TurboTax purposes, just ignore the small "2" and enter the real estate taxes (box 10) using these steps:

  1. Click on Federal Taxes > Deductions & Credits  [In TT Self-Employed:  Personal > Deductions & Credits > I'll choose what I work on].
  2. In the Your Home section, start by clicking on the Start/Revisit box next to Property Taxes.  [See Screenshot #1 below.]
  3. Enter your taxes on the next screen, Enter the Property Taxes You Paid.  [Screenshot #2]
