When it asks for the mortgage interest from the MCC, is it asking for the amount we've already from our 1098?

No, this is the amount shown on the mortgage credit certificate. Enter the amount shown on the certificate and the percentage.

Enter your 1098 form as it is reported. The % of the credit listed on the MCC will reduce the amount of your interest deduction to the actual amount you paid.
