Loss due to covid19

I had a trip planned and rented a home in Hawaii in 2021. The state shut down due to Covid. The property owner sold the home without telling anyone including VRBO and ran off with my money.

I lost nearly 6K. Is there a way to deduct this under Section 165?

Casualty and Thefts losses are not deductible on a federal tax return due to the tax code changes in effect for tax years 2018 thru 2025 unless the loss occurred in a federally declared disaster area.
