Can the legal expenses paid toward arranging charitable gifts be deducted against current income? If so, on what schedule and where in the Turbotax program? I have in mind two distinct deductions: 1) for preparing a gift devise for contributions that were paid in 2022; and 2) for preparing a gift devise of tangible property (books) to be given by myself or my estate in the future.

Legal expenses paid on behalf of a qualified charitable organization could be deducted as a charitable contribution. But legal expenses to set up your own charitable contributions are personal expenses and no longer deductible under current tax law.
While disappointing, just right and right to the point. Many thanks!
Those expenses may have been includable as miscellaneous itemized deductions subject to the 2% rule, but that deduction was eliminated for 2018-2025 by the 2017 tax reform law.
So I gather from the previous reply. Yours provides details about when such deductions were disallowed. Many thanks.
