Previous years we e have filed long-form and itemized our deductions but the past several years due to changes in filing status the standard deductions have benefitted us more than itemizing has. So this year we are filing the short form. Does the short form still allow us to claim mortgage interest and such

No, if you take the standard deduction you cannot deduct mortgage interest, mortgage insurance premiums, or property taxes.

How does the itemized deduction differ from the standard deduction?
