No, they aren't the same and no you can't get both the $2,000 Child Tax Credit and the $1,600 Additional Child Tax Credit for each qualifying dependent child. The Child Tax Credit is a credit of up to $2,000 that you can get for each qualified dependent child that you claim on your tax return. The Additional Child Tax Credit of up to $1,600 for each qualified dependent child if you are qualified for the full $2,000 Child Tax Credit.
