In the state of CO, I donated to a Boy Scout camp and received a DR1317 for my $500 donation. Where do I enter this donation when its a donation, not for my child?

If I put it as a donation, I am not getting the 50% donation credit for it being a Child Care facility AND if I put it under the Child Care Deduction, it asked me to pick a person in  my family it is applicable to.

Donations go under Deductions and Credits, it doesn't matter what the organization is.

This is a specific form that needs to be submitted with your Colorado tax return.  When in the Colorado return, go to the Credits section and fill out the information, using this form, under the Child Care Contribution Credit.

You can add the donation on the Federal return as follows:

1.  Go to Federal, then Deductions and Credits.

2.  Select Charitable Donations, you'll see Donations to Charity in 2017, select.

3.  Answer YES, you want to make donations.

4.  Add the Boy Scout Camp.

5.  Click ADD money.  The next page will ask how often and the amount of the donation

Doing these entries separately in each return will give you what you need.  Because of Colorado wanting the actual form and the information on the return, you may have to mail your Colorado return.  TurboTax will let you know when the time comes to file.
