Sale of home in Illinois

Sold home in 2016, and did not need to claim it on Federal Return (no 1099-S, lived in home 3 of last 5 yrs, etc.)  However thought I read that in Illinois there was a tax.  Or does Illinois follow the same tax rule as federal for home sales, so no need to claim on State Return?  Thank you!

Sale of home in Illinois

In general, the Real Estate Transfer Tax imposed by the State of Illinois is collected on the closing date of the sale. You may wish to contact the title company that handled the closing to be sure this tax was paid.

There is no Illinois State Income Tax on the sale of a personal residence.
