I have severe arthritis and purchased a walk-in tub so I can bathe and shower safely. It was costly. Is this a deductible medical expense?

The following items are all included in IRS Publication 502. Based on these, I would think the expense would be deductible.

  • Installing railings, support bars, or other modifications to bathrooms.
  • Mattresses and boards bought specifically to alleviate an arthritic condition
  • Whirlpool baths prescribed by a doctor

So if such a whirlpool bath was prescribed by a doctor, it can be considered as a deductible expense, am I right?
