The following items are all included in IRS Publication 502. Based on these, I would think the expense would be deductible.
- Installing railings, support bars, or other modifications
to bathrooms.
- Mattresses and boards bought specifically to alleviate an arthritic condition
- Whirlpool baths prescribed by a doctor
