I have 4 different 1098's from banks & mortgage co's. because I refinanced my mortgage last year. When filing, do I include info. from all 4 or just the current mort. co?

You will enter all of the 1098 forms into your tax return.  They would each represent different times of the year when you were paying that particular lender.

After the first one is entered, you will return to a Home Loan Deduction Summary screen.  There will be a blue box or link for Add a Lender under the name of the lender you just entered.  Click Add a Lender and enter the information for the second 1098 form.  Repeat until they are all entered.

To go directly to the mortgage interest section of your tax return, use these steps:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)

  • This opens a box where you can type in “mortgage interest” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)

  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to mortgage interest

  • Click on the blue “Jump to mortgage interest” link
