I am trying to input dates in several areas - charitable donations and for improvements to a home. and the response I get is input a date in 2020. I did.. what's wrong

the date is input as 10/10/2020 and I get the answer : you either left the date field blank or you entered an invalid date.  It must be in 2020.  I can't proceed any further because of this.

Here are some things to be sure of:

• the date must be 2 digits for the month and then 2 digits for the date and then 4 digits for the year.  
• Be sure there is not a blank space in the beginning or end of the field
• the software will enter the / so  you don't have to

TurboTax has fields of specific formats.

I’ve done all of that several times and it dies not work. I’ve called and waited I build through the phone tree - wasted several hours on this and get ZERO resolution.
