I am trying to deduct non compensated expenses from my job----- miles driven, etc.

I worked for the census from my home and not all miles were reimbursed.  Also, I had to buy a new phone for this job as the old one would not work in the area I traveled to perform my job.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 eliminated the ability to claim a deduction for unreimbursed job expenses for employees. 

As an employee of the Census, your unreimbursed expenses cannot be deducted on your tax return.
