More of desktop app question and hoping someone has had some experience or can tell me if this is an issue or how to resolve. Basically, I was trying a couple methods to see results with my home office, which is in my owned home but fairly small in comparison to the entire home. I have always used the standard $5/sq ft method but this year I explored the option of using the simple method entering the home costs, mortgage interest things like that. In the end, after reading some things concerning depreciation and feeling like it wasn't do much for me but was going to require a lot of input, I went back and chose the standard method and the results were still pretty good. Here's my question: I feel like after doing that all the "forms" were created but now empty and if I go submit the return it'll have all these additional pages of supporting docs for this home office simplified method that I never finished. Is this a problem or should I somehow delete these forms or what's the best approach for things like this? Thanks in advance for any help!

It should not be a problem - TurboTax will only send the relevant forms with your return when you file. However, if you want to clean up your documents before you file, you can go into Forms Mode and delete or view Form 8829 in the list. If you delete it, you can then go back through the interview and choose the Standard/Simplified Deduction. TurboTax uses Form 8829 whether you use actual or simplified cost calculations. The form will be right underneath Schedule C in your list of forms. Since you know you want to do simplified, it would be easy to delete the form and walk back through the interview - then you know all of your test entries are gone and won't affect the calculations.
great info thanks! I will do it that way makes a lot of sense.
