Can I deduct repairs to my geothermal heating system ?
No. Repairs and maintenance to keep your property in order are never deductible or eligible for credits -- that's what any responsible person does to keep their property in good condition and maintain its value and usefulness. If, as part of the repairs, you installed new equipment that increased the system's capacity, that part of the cost might be eligible for the credit, although that might be tricky and you might want to have the situation reviewed by a professional.
