It seems to me that the current (now final) form 5695 has several errors. It does not have a line for electric heat pumps, and when I enter a value in the geothermal heat pump cell, it calculates a value that is too high for the refund (supposed to max at $2000). This seems to be an important bug.

The form 5695 forms ARE NOT READY !!!
Supposedly they "might" be ready daytime on 8 Feb...but don't bother trying until 9 Feb !
(of course, they may decide tonight to delay another week....no promises)
TurboTax lists this form as complete and ready on their website.
I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:
TurboTax Online:
Sign into your online account.
Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.
TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:
Open your return.
Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent”
This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created. Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.
This is a post from Wednesday....when teh for 5695 was NOT implemented as the 7 Feb (erroneous) suggested date.
We don't know if @vancleve is still having the problems, since it was fixed overnight Wed-Thurs, and ready to use Thursday morning.
_____________
@vancleve To avoid issues, you DO have to go thru the Energy Credits Q&A again now that it's fixed. At least one person assumed the update would fix it entirely....but some of the questions, and entry boxes may have changed.
OR...is it still a problem for you?
The form does appear to have been fixed at this point.
