I have 1 qualifying child and completed section 1. I showed that we paid 3000.00 for qualified expenses in line 1(e). The amount in line 1(e) did not populate 2(d); therefore there is no dependent care expenses shown.

Are you not eligible for the credit as opposed to having deductible benefits? If the program decides that you are not eligible for the credit for other reasons, it might just stop in the middle of things.
Did you have a dependent care FSA (entry in box 10 of the W-2)? How much was it for?
Look at line 29 on your 2441. Is it zero? If so, you can't take the credit, so I have noticed that TurboTax sometimes doesn't finish filling the form out.
I found that I should have input the qualified payment next to the dependent's name in the general information section. It then was posted in section II of form 2441. ron
Are you making entries in Forms mode? It would be safer to go through the Child and Dependent Care interview, rather than make entries directly on forms.
But I am glad you found your issue. Debugging without being able to see what the taxpayer did is difficult, as you can imagine.
thanks for your suggestions; although they did not apply in this case, i appreciate your support. Ron
I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:
