Foreign Tax Credit and Form 1116

There are some rules on carryforward and back. You must have filed the actual form 1116 for a carryover to or from a year. Other years are unaffected. If you elected to not file the 1116 due to the income level, you would not use the form. Please see Instructions for Form 1116, page 2, 1st column. From there, you can go to line 10 carryover instructions.
