Well hopefully this will be history after Feb 20.
Or, claiming it on my SECOND Volt! Bought it last March, 2 weeks before GM credits dropped from $7,500 to $3,750. One of these days, I've got to start driving it - still less that 200 miles on it!
I generally file my taxes the day I get my w2 near the end of Jan... OCD... so having to wait until Feb 20 is causing serious stress.

Not sure how to submit an urgent request, but the form is not properly calculating the phase out credits.
The form is NOT in it's final form.
It should be available 24 hours after the IRS approves TurboTax to use the form. Currently, the IRS has not finalized the form. Here is the IRS web page to check the status of form 8936: Available Forms and Limitations. Scroll down to Form 8936.
Then why is it available in the app?
I just filed my taxes completely free at H&R Block's website because when I went to do the EV Tax credit, Turbo Tax tried to force me to pay for the $50 product because the free version "doesn't support" Form 8936. What a crock. I've been using Turbo Tax since 2003, but H&R Block worked just as well.
So basically the IRS approved HR BLOCK but not turbotax? Get it together - this should have been done already!
Agrred...I am beyond *bleep*. Pay for the program, pay to file. Only to have to do it twice!
