Did the EIC lower my refund?

Hi! Before I finalized the filing of my taxes on TurboTax the total refund stated $7,202 Federal and $308 State. I e-filed and now the refund amount displayed on the TurboTax app is $3,618 Federal and $308 State. The only change was the TurboTax app asking me if my child dependent qualified for the EIC to which I checked yes. Did this lower my Federal return amount?

If you indicated that your child qualifies for an earned income credit that would not lower your tax refund. 

I would suggest you print out your tax return for this year and last year, then compare the amounts on both forms and investigate anything that looks wrong. You can amend your return after your receive your refund if you need to make corrections.

Are you sure it wasn't the Taxes Due that went down? And $7,000+ is a pretty large refund, so please check all your data entry.
