I've done occasional freelance work for several years and have regularly filed schedule C. But in 2020 I just got paid for one freelance gig (which I actually did the work for in the latter half of 2019). I'm reporting that income but it's now asking me if I stopped working in writing in 2020. I didn't sell my 'business' or anything, and it's really just me sitting at a desk at home doing the work by myself (and I'm not incorporated), I just took a break from freelancing and might do more in the future. How do I answer?
Also, where is this question on the actual Schedule C form? I don't see it.
Lastly, this is tied to a question I have about the self-employed health insurance deduction. I think I qualify for the deduction since I was self-employed at one point. If you take the deduction, Turbotax then asks what the first and last months were that you operated the business. I should say January to both, since that's the only month I did freelance work. Does that then mean I should report on Schedule C that I stopped doing this work after January?
Thank you! I really appreciate it.
